As you point out, though, the spec
disagrees with Kay about child::node() matching namespace
nodes. Maybe the spec writers forgot about namespace nodes
when they wrote that??
If I recall correctly (I haven't got the information to hand) this
omission is corrected in the XSLT 1.0 errata.

which as far as I could tell gives the most current errata,
there is no correction of the above statement (Sec. 5.2,
9th bullet).
