I get it. Thank you for your explanations. to wendell, these are not difficult concepts to grasp once they are stated explicitly.

That's good. (I find it reassuring -- no I am not an alien from another planet! although I suppose this doesn't disprove that idea. :-)

Thanks for asking the "dumb" question. Frequently I find that the "aha" happens for many only after someone has the courage to do that -- and it can illuminate all kinds of unstated assumptions.
