RE: Entity reference problem

Dave,

Wendell, I'm guessing its a missing glyph issue in the fonts used
by the xsl-fo processor.

Yes, I recognize that's a distinct possibility, but it's puzzling, since &x2D; is designated in Unicode as a minus sign (and it's in the 7-bit ASCII set), and what kind of font doesn't have that? and what does it do if I type -hey!- -how- -are- -you?-

Even Morse code has a dash. :->

Suggest try another character as a substitution, see if that
works. I would have thought - would be available in most fonts,
less sure why - is not being used, unless you're right and its not
being declared correctly?

Given the error in the code as posted (the missing ';', which is possibly a typo) I thought it worth checking. Also it helps to know how entities fit into the parsing picture, something which is not self-evident for those new to XML.

Hopefully we'll hear back from the OP with more specifics if the problem isn't fixed yet. (But you're right, he did say he was getting a box, not an error, didn't he?)

Cheers,
Wendell
