well that's your problem, as it pulls out all the name elements and
processes them out of order.
Don't do that. Just do
<xsl:apply-templates select="itemInv/itemDesc/title"/>
and have a template for name that makes your link.
The default template for text will copy the text and you will end up
with linked names, or unlinked text in the order they appear in the
source.
