Hi,

Don't exactly see what the problem is (in the first case... as for the
latter, that obviously won't work ), but my guess is, the spacing in the
output is wrong(?) try:

<fo:inline>Report: Profit <fo:inline>&amp;</fo:inline> Loss</fo:inline>
