I would expect an error message (file not found), but instead, it finds
what it
should not.
But (assuming the labeling of the two files in data2 were backwards) the
output you get is what I do expect, because you'll see in your output that
"../data.xml" shows "data 1" from the parent directory.
I'm not sure what you are seeing as being wrong in your example. It looks
right to me.
