Hi,

The problem you describe is not caused by the doctype declaration.
The source you provided should work perfectly if you change this:

<xsl:template match="/">
    <xsl:copy-of select="."/>
</xsl:template>


To:
<xsl:template match="/">
  <xsl:copy-of select="*" />
</xsl:template>

Andreas, why do you suggest he makes that change?
The only effect of that would be to lose any top level comments or
processing instructions.
