AW: free XMLSpy version and xalan

2005-01-24 00:42:23
Hmm, actually I have to commit that I am using the Professional Editon,
which offers the XSL tab. But I used the Home Edition in an older version
and I think there was such a tab. Maybe Altova has removed it in the Home
Edition
since they offered their own XSLT processor.
Wouldn't it be possible to find out which processor it uses by writing a simple
stylesheet
including the system-property() function somewhere?

Roman

Never mind, found it:

Note: XMLSpy 2005 has two built-in XSLT engines, the Altova
XSLT 1.0 Engine and Altova XSLT 2.0 Engine. The Altova XSLT
1.0 Engine is used to process XSLT 1.0 stylesheets. The
Altova XSLT 2.0 Engine is used to process XSLT 2.0
stylesheets. The correct engine is automatically selected by
XMLSpy 2005 on the basis of the version attribute in the
xsl:stylesheet or xsl:transform element. In this tutorial
transformation, we use XSLT 1.0 stylesheets. The Altova XSLT
1.0 Engine will automatically be selected for transformations
with these stylesheets when the XSL Transformation command is
invoked.

Hope this information goes for the Free Edition too... does
anyone know?

Cheer,
<prs/>

Hi,

I checked, there's no such tab "XSL" in the free edition. The
help says it's there but it talks about XMLSpy 2005. Bad luck
I'd say - so what processor DOES it use??

Cheers,

Hi Katharina,

Although I am using the Professional Editon, it should be
quite easy to use any XSLT processor with XML Spy.
Under "Tools/Options" you should be able to find an "XSL"
section, which allows you to choose between the Altove XSLT
processor engine, MSXML or any other external processor.

HTH

Roman

Hi,

I use the free XMLSpy software to work with my stylesheets.
Now I need to use the Xalan processor for my transformation
because I
use some extensions and they only work with Xalan.

How can I use Xalan there? In the free edition I found no
possibility
to change the processors.

Cheers
Katharina
