RE: Difference between XSL and XSLT

2006-02-10 13:09:32
Oh thank you guys so much. I found especially this explanation perfectly
clear.

But the latex paint example is good too; maybe I could come up with it to
impress my boss who is always in a bad mood. ;o)

Ok, I go home now. I am very tired. 20:07 here.

Thanks again,
Have a nice weekend,
Houman

Subject: Re: [xsl] Difference between XSL and XSLT

XSL is a superset of XSLT, as it includes XSLT and XSL:FO (formating
objects), at least... But usually when people talk about XSL only,
they are really refering implicitly XSLT, and they usually refer to
XSL:FO explicitly.

So you cannot use " XSLT rather than XSL" really, you can use XSLT
rather than XSL:FO or vice-versa, but XSL itself is a umbrella on top
of both of then.

Hello,

I am having a presentation on Monday about XML, XSLT and XSD. I am
wondering what if they ask me what the difference between XSLT and XSL
is, or why we should use the one over the other...I didn't know how to
respond.

I know XSLT is a subset o XSL. But still a bit confusing to explain why
to use XSLT rather than XSL or vice versa...

Any comment?
Thanks
