It depends on what you mean by "test script". You might find
XMLUnit (http://xmlunit.sourceforge.net/) useful.
There is no high-level tool for conveniently testing rendered
XSLFO to my knowledge. I've seen various customized solutions,
one using auxiliary output of the FO processor, the other
using Ghostscript to get bitmap images which were further processed
with various image processing steps, including OCR.
