I have been having a problem with fetchmail since I installed IPChains
on my Linux Mandrake 7.2 system.

Hard to believe. IPchains does not interfere with fetchmail unless used
improperly.

Everything else works fine except for fetchmail. Netscape messenger
handles both inbound and outbound mail just fine. With pine I can
only send mail but not receive any, since fetchmail isn't working. I
haven't blocked port 25 with IPChains. As a matter of fact I haven't
specified anything for port 25, which I assume is causing the problem.

Please look into /etc/services. Please understand TCP/IP network basics
before setting up "firewalls". Try O'Reilly's "Building Internet
Firewalls".

But the output below indicates to me that everything is working
through this port. Below I attached the output of the command,

No, it does not.

fetchmail: 5.5.2 querying POP6.sympatico.ca (protocol POP3) at Sun, 11
                                                      --------

That's tcp-outgoing on port 110. (You don't need to let SYN packets in
on that port.)
