bug-report: Re: The 5.6.5 release of fetchmail

2001-02-15 18:03:54
Eric et al:

Thanks again for a great app. I am receiving an "unknown command"
error while polling an SSL wrapped version of QPop. I connect to three
different servers via three different methods -- only the SSL server
generates the error. I have attempted to use various preauth options to
eliminate it to no avail. V5.6.3 does not exhibit the behavior. The
following error on both my side (client) and the the server:

(client side):
Feb 15 19:12:44 <client> fetchmail[262]: Unknown command: "auth".
Feb 15 19:12:49 <client> fetchmail[262]: Unknown command: "auth".

(server side):
Feb 15 19:12:44 <server> qpopper[79732]: ken at <client.dom>
(127.0.0.1): -ERR Unknown command: "auth".
Feb 15 19:12:48 <server> qpopper[79732]: Stats: ken 0 0 0 0 <client.dom>

Feb 15 19:12:49 <server> qpopper[79733]: <spouse> at <client.dom>

Feb 15 19:12:53 <server> qpopper[79733]: Stats: <spouse> 0 0 0 0
<client.dom> 127.0.0.1
(server SSL):

<client IP>:1139
Feb 15 19:12:48 <server> stunnel[659]: Connection closed: 263 bytes sent

Client libs are glibc 2.1.3 w/ OpenSSL 0.9.6 compiled by:
gcc version egcs-2.91.66 19990314/Linux (egcs-1.1.2 release)
Used: ./configure --prefix=/usr --with-ssl

My SMTP listener is Sendmail 8.11.2 w/ Cyrus SASL 1.5 & OpenSSL 0.9.6

## This is the problem server:

password w/ same err.

Server nonresponse timeout is 300 seconds (default).
  Default mailbox selected.
All messages will be retrieved (--all on).
Fetched messages will not be kept on the server (--keep off).

Carriage-return forcing is disabled (forcecr off).
Interpretation of Content-Transfer-Encoding is enabled (pass8bits
off).
MIME decoding is disabled (mimedecode off).

Hope this is sufficient to find the problem. I haven't looked for it
in your source 'cause I got my own stuff to debug :-/ I'll be dropping
back to 5.6.3 for now. NOTE WELL: The pop DOES succeed -- it is just
the annoying error messages that I want to quell.

Regards,
ken
