Quite possibly mozilla is using one of the password protocols that
doesn't pass the password in the clear, and for some reason fetchmail
isn't doing that (even though it's capable).
If you send the server's response to an IMAP CAPABILITIES command
(included in the output of fetchmail -v -v), we might be able to tell
more. If you show us the packet dump from the mozilla session, that
might help even more.
