Hi all,
I have just setup fetchming pickup mail from a
MS Exchange server and forwarding to a POP3 server.

My problem is that the attachments do no get forwarded
correctly.

They appear as text in the mail with a "begin" header
and "end" trailer.

It looks like fetchmail does not know who to interpret
the attached file other than to show the attached data
within the "begin/end" block.

Sounds like standard UUEncoded email, maybe a problem with your mail client?

My needs are simple, I do no ready any mail on the
linux box, it is simply a server to pickup and forward
mail to a central point.

Text email appear to get forwarded correctly, its only
the ones with attachments that are problematic.

What you need to do is try collecting the email directly with your client software. You should get exactly the same result as if you pull it with fetchmail.

If you don't then please provide diagnostic information for an email that is "broken". The results of a "fetchmail -v -v" run and headers as both pulled directly with the mail client and pulled via fetchmail would be useful.

Please DO NOT send me ANY email directly unless it's a privacy issue.
Reply-to mangled to assist those who don't read the above.
