Thanks!  That worked perfectly!  I now have a script that basically does
this:

export FETCHMAILHOME=~/.fetchmail/acct1
fetchmail -d 60
export FETCHMAILHOME=~/.fetchmail/acct2
fetchmail -d 60

Then I've stored each config file in acct?/fetchmailrc and it works like
a charm!
