[fetchmail]hang on bad address

2004-09-22 09:16:00
actually, "hang" is too strong, but that is effectively the result. On
messages like the following, fetchmail dutifully logs an error and refuses to
process the message. every time. which means it stops retrieving other
messages. major :(

telnetting in to clear the message, I see:

I've removed the recipient's address [obviously my mom gets enough spam as it
is] since it isn't the "problem". The problem seems to be the "from" address
of <I[5-](_at_)doramail(_dot_)comE> -- the fetchmail log says something like

fetchmail: reading message ### for <userid>:1 of 102 (1932 octets) fetchmail:
SMTP error: 501 Bad address syntax
fetchmail: not flushed

hold the phone -- I just did some more checking, and I think the problem stems
from the fact that MY server isn't accepting this address. I gather
fetchmail is masquerading as the sending user, and my smtp server is
rejecting these when fetchmail tries to send it "locally"? if so, what
can/should I do to allow fetchmail to continue in this case?
