Excerpts from internet.ietf: 21-Jun-91 Re: ID ACTION:draft-ietf-82.. Ed

My first recommendation would be to add a standard richtext formatting
token that identifies signatures...
An excellent suggestion, and one I would support. I would suggest,
however, before we overwhelm the ietf list on this topic, that further
discussion about this draft might best be conducted on the ietf-822
mailing list, which is where the draft was born. The address is
ietf-822[-request](_at_)dimacs(_dot_)rutgers(_dot_)edu
Also (for anyone else playing with richtext) please note that, in its
current definition, you need to use <nl> to represent real line breaks.
(I noticed this omission of Ed's because my mail reader is already
parsing richtext and displaying it more or less properly, i.e. with the
multiple fonts and all, and his mail came out as one giant paragraph.)
This is done to permit filled & justified text, but it is clearly less
than ideal if people are going to be composing richtext by hand --
by-hand composition was not my expectation, but if it is going to be
frequent we might have to rethink the whole newline business.
