Re: a checksum summary?

I very strongly support Jim's analysis and recommendations, except for
the nit-picking about the term checksum.  When I start seeing people
use the word 'comprise' correctly, I think we stand some chance of
getting people to distinguish arithmetic checking algorithms from their
more sophisticated relatives.
