It is also common for "/" to occur in Mail Stops.  Mine at DEC is
LKG2-1/BB3.

      What about changing the multi-line delimiter from '/' 
to ';'.   There does seem to be precedent for using semi-colon 
to delimit  "lines"  and it should be less likely to show-up as 
part of the actual text of,  say,  and earth address than slash.
