The objections seem to have been based on the idea that an Internet
standard is somehow *mandatory* for the *whole network*.
Eastlake admits that this is an attempt to put ``pressure on product
vendors.''
It's pressure to adopt inferior technology. There are no legitimate
interoperability concerns; this is a blatant attempt by one vendor to
protect its dwindling market share by deceiving purchasers.
