Your blantant commercialism pushing your own product and bashing other's is
inappropriate. I request that you withdraw your remark and appologize.
The objections seem to have been based on the idea that an Internet
standard is somehow *mandatory* for the *whole network*.
Eastlake admits that this is an attempt to put ``pressure on product
vendors.''
I believe that virtually all standards are issued with the hope that products
and services will conform to them and that their popularity will exert
pressure on suppliers to incorporate them. This idea for standardization is
no different in that regard than any other.
It's pressure to adopt inferior technology. There are no legitimate
interoperability concerns; this is a blatant attempt by one vendor to
protect its dwindling market share by deceiving purchasers.
It would hardly seem surprising that that the first draft of a standard would
be colored by the author's experience. However, I detect a willingness to
learn and change the draft in the author. In you I see little but
intrasigence and name calling.
