ORBS just tried to close down open relays; they didn't try to force
users to submit mail from specific hosts.
Do you think spam is a big problem? If so, do you think it's necessary to
do something about it?
Do you think it's a big enough problem to warrant some inconvenience to a
few legitimate users in order to confer a benefit to all email users
(except spammers) everywhere?
Can you think of a solution to the problem which would work better for
everyone, and be less inconvenient to you?
If we run with the idea of some form of email sender authentication, then
there are possible solutions to your particular problem - eg we could
specify that if the MS record points to '0.0.0.0' then any host is allowed
to send mail with that domain as the sender address (and you run the risk
of spammers faking your address on their spam, but you seem to be happy
with that idea)
