not that I entirely dismiss this idea, but I do have to wonder - 
if a message is sent to multiple lists (or in general multiple recipients),
why should a reply-to-list go to only one of those lists/recipients?

Yes, that is a Good Question. Ideally, the Reply-To-List command should
reply to every list to which the message was sent. The problem is how does
it know this? No obvious solution, but much benefit in solving it, so any
bright ideas anyone? Replying to everything in the To: header might come
close in many cases, especially if one of those addresses could be
identified as being the same as some List-Post header.
