Vernon -- do you have a response that pertains to the actual content of
Tim's posting?

No doubt there is a scenario that Tim could initiate that would make it
important to know what you think of his past behavior, but I don't see
how it relates to the content of his current posting.

If we are going to run a discussion where each participant gets to say
why we should discount each other poster, because of their deficient
character, past sins, or bad style of dress, we are not going to operate
very productively.

ps. I am sending this as a matter of general principle, but it also
happens that I thought the content of Tim's note was pragmatic and useful.
