How about date format like?
x=yyyymm[dd[hh[ss]]]
Minimum 4 characters, year and month. Day, hour, seconds, optional. Most
likely most expirations will be to the day or hour, so x=yyyymmddhh would be
sufficient for most needs.
This will also be easier to read for diagnostics when eyeballing.
