Hello all,
The (soon-to-be) MARID working group has a very short schedule for
accomplishing a very important task. So we, the potential chairs,
request the following of all participants so that this list is a highly
effective communication medium.
o Be professional in your correspondence.
o Remember that citation of research and documented experience is more
helpful for positive discussions than citation of credentials.
o Email does not always perfectly reflect proper human emotional tone,
so please consider how others will receive your messages and be
forgiving of messages you read.
o While the business of the IETF is conducted in English, remember
that not all participants are native English speakers.
o Please consider traffic volume when using the MARID list. Instead
of emitting or replying to many individual messages, consider using a
summary format message, no more than three times a day. This is a
guideline, not a rule.
o Most of us have scars from past battles in other IETF working groups
and related endeavors, however it is not generally constructive to
re-enact glorious victories or resounding defeats of the past.
o Finally, familiarize yourselves with BCP 83.
We would also encourage participants to take advantage of the
Jabber/XMPP chat room at marid(_at_)ietf(_dot_)xmpp(_dot_)org(_dot_) The archives may be
found at http://www.xmpp.org/ietf-logs/marid(_at_)ietf(_dot_)xmpp(_dot_)org/ . As a
proposal, perhaps working group participants could meet there at 21:00
UTC (4pm EST, 1pm PST, 22:00 CET, 7am AU EST) on Monday of every other
week starting March 22.
