If the schema is revised the next namespace ID
could be urn:ietf:params:xml:ns:marid-2 or from a protocol perspective
gopher:info.cern.ch/pics/bugsbunny.jpg would work just as well.

isn't it?
Maybe John Levine could indulge us and allow us something like
go://away.sp.am
for our namespace URI.

I agree that the issue of registration is being very much confused with
the only XML imposed requirement, which is simply that of uniqueness.
