I think this is an excellent idea, and I'm very pleased to see it
happening.

One question that comes to mind is why is this human readable?  It's
going to be written by software and read by software.  To be sure, a
machine can read and parse it anyway, but it seems like a needless
extra step.

It strikes me that this is really another preference list like the
cipher/hash/compression preferences.  Most every implementation has
code to parse preference lists, and if this notation was a
non-human-readable array of bytes like the others then the same code
could parse them all.
