Perhaps a side note on the key derivation function discussion:

I think it would be beneficial, the algorithm for that would be variable
(i.e. having an algorithm field like the other alogs).
Secret keys typically don't move so much, so this is really a place
where distros/implementations may to choose what they prefer.

And as usual, it would also allow us to move on much easier, when
new/"better" functions hit the market.
