I agree about CAN-SPAM. I have seen a slight decrease during the first 13
days of this month over December in terms of the amount of SPAM we have
received. In the last few days I am seeing the numbers increase so I'm left
to assume that people are just moving off shore.
Frankly, the US Congress isn't going to help by legislating a global system.
We have to do it ourselves either through technology or self policing. I
would vastly prefer an extension to SMTP that allowed for the passing of an
authentication code for each e-mail sent that would have to be verified by
the receiving system.
