I don't disagree with the above. What I disagree with is the notion that the
rest of the overworked IESG provides adequate review.
The current voting procedure is the only protection that the community has
against an AD who has decided that his opinion trumps the expertise of the
working group and the rest of the IESG.
It's the only protection that exists now. But it's not the only way to solve
the problem.
