Incoming email is being added to the archive, but they
are not being indexed for the search engine. However,
I am able to cut and paste the above command (mknmz
--mhonarc ....) and run it from my login shell. It
runs without any errors and the index gets updated. I
am puzzled why mknmz returns -1 when run from cron.

Sorry for the late reply. Message got lost in the shuffle that
is my inbox.

Not sure about the cause of the error. In the past, I experienced
some problems with mknmz, so I had to code web-archive to capture
the exit status and clean up namazu lock files to avoid later problems
during archive updates.

After you ran the command from your login shell, do you still receive
the same error message in cron.log?
