Re: [Nmh-workers] Debian (was: nmh now available via MacPorts)

In Ubuntu the information is:

    Maintainer: Ubuntu MOTU Developers
<ubuntu-motu(_at_)lists(_dot_)ubuntu(_dot_)com>
    Original-Maintainer: Nick Rusnov <nickrusnov(_at_)debian(_dot_)org>
    Version: 1.3-1

I'm not sure if that means they are repackaging it themselves or not.

I'm thinking we should look into providing a repo with our own debs that
will run on both Debian and derivatives to increase the availability of the
latest code.

Thanks

Jeff

Hi!

How are the debs maintained for Ubuntu and Debian? It would be good to
make sure they track our (your!) hard work.

I'm not sure how that works; does anyone happen to know?

Typically, the Debian Developer (maintaining the package) bundles
your released source with his own patches containing the packaging
information and a gpg signature and uploads this into the debian pool.
Then the buildnetwork tries to compile binary packages for all
supported architectures.

In this case, the DD is Nick Rusnov. He used to be quite responsive
in the past, but I don't know how much time he has these days.

If Nick was too busy, I could probably prepare the debian packaging,
but I'd need to find an official DD for the gpg signature part.
Thus I'd prefer if some DD did the work in the first place. Let's
just give Nick some time.

BTW, detailed information about the nmh package in Debian can be
found at:
