I nuked the original message, but my recollection is that it was a patch
specifically for FreeBSD. I'm pretty sure we already have a general
case switch to allow this to be overridden at configure time, don't we?
Maybe I misinterpreted the original intent of the patch :-(

Definitely not FreeBSD-specific. If it was to change the default locktype
for FreeBSD, yeah, totally agree that should be not be accepted.
