A very minor point: might serial number 0 be a better dummy value? The first certificate issued by out "manufacturing" box for the units it initializes will have #1. (We could, of course, arrange to have it start at 2, so it's no big deal, but 1 might be used in some other situation.)
Serial number 0 would be fine. -- Burt
