Why don't you like a "use Printable String where you can" rule? It sounds like a defect to 9594-8 to me.
I like the rule. I just wanted to be prepared for implementors who don't. My second choice of rule is "don't change your mind." That way at least the DER is the same in all occurrences of the name. Should we submit a defect report, or just publicize an implementors agreement? How does this get done? -- Burt
