Indeed. Sorry for the confusion. I should simply have said that the
address you supplied won't work.

The reason is, in fact, one that we aren't used to within the Internet. To
be honest, though, I suspect it will become more common.

"DCrocker at UDel-Relay: loses; [USER] 550 Unknown domain 'UDel-Relay'" from
the RFC 822 standard title-page, for example of this addressing.

Our need in all this to obtain properly qualified and certified
information about the identity of the communicants, and the signer.

Well, I guess I'm less concerned with the failure of a 12-year old address
than with one supplied currently by the intended recipient.

In fact, part of the problem is that relaying to your address requires
specification of the gateway BY YOU. This is fundamentally different from
the current Internet approach, which uses the DNS MX record to let the
receiving domain declare its own gateway and to do it in a way that it
transparent to originators and recipients.

The Internet certainly does have usage which involves source routing, like
this, but it is generally acknowledged to be a deficient mode and folks try
pretty hard to move in the direction of not needing it.

(Gee, this is even MORE on the topic for pem-dev, isn't it?)
