I commented that I could not determine what services I obtained
from the draft, and that such a position lowers the fundamental
standard irretrievably.
My same questions are still outstanding, having been
unaddressed. In a more clear manner, Paul expressed the same
comment, just recently.
Peter, please restate your questions and I will answer them as best I
can. My previous response to Paul indicates that I did not understand
his questions.
Also, please see one of my previous messages where I detail the most
important "changes" to 1421 that were included in the MIME-PEM draft.
Let me also say that there was never an intention to undermine or
exclude the functionality defined in 142X. All the current proposal has
done is augment the functionality available by having two technologies
(MIME and PEM) embrace each other.
In other words, the services are the same. The MIME-PEM document does
not in its current form replace the 142X series. It requires those
documents for a description of the base technology on which it is based.
At such time as the 142X series and the MIME-PEM document is considered
for advancement to draft standard, the question as to whether to advance
both or choose one will need to be answered.
