My only point was that you didn't have to inform all the X.500 DSA vendors
or
the DUA vendors. If it is an e-mail name that appears in a certificate, only
PEM or PEM/MIME really has to be able to generate and interpret it at this
stage.

Actually, it would be better to use one of the email address attributes that
have already been defined as part of the Internet white pages project.

Also acceptable. I think the NADF has the equivalent, and probably the Paradise
project as well. Since there are currentl;y efforts underway to merge all of
those projects under a common Directory Information Tree and an interconnected
and interoperable X.500 DSAs spanning North America, Europe, and the Intenr
white pages, a common understanding of these attributes should emerge as well.
I believe that they may already be compatible, although they might not have the
same OID. I haven't checked, but it isn't really material to the argument.
There shouldn't be any overwhelming or show-stopping difficulties.
