Ned....,
Many thanks for your detailed view. It is quite sensible (a/k/a I
agree). It will be interesting to see the ensuing discussions on the S/MIME
list (I sent off another -request this AM. My initial one was rejected,
similar to Dave C.'s result he noted in previous msg to pem-dev). It would
also be interesting to review the list archive if available (hint Tim...:-)
to see what led to the design decisions.
On another note, it would seem some "customer" types should begin to educate the
following vendors that are currently endorsing S/MIME...:
Connectsoft Tamese Robinson 206/450-9965
Frontier Dennis Freeman 414/241-4555
FTP Software Jill Dudka 508/659-6458

Wollongong Bob Brodie 415/962-7203
Microsoft Waggener-Edstrom Public Relations 503/245-0905
Banyan Jay Seaton 508/898-1000
NCD Mike Harrigan 415/694-0663

The specification, at least, is public. Given the amount of press surrounding
this proposal and the strong liklihood of it being widely used I strongly
recommend that everyone who is interested in email security obtain a
copy of the specification and read it.
Yes.... Thus the impetus for my goading above....
