Then to return to semantics, Chip, how exactly do you plan to provide
out-of-band data to the programmer.

Ilya obviously favours extending the existing RE engine via some
syntactic notation.  How do you see Joe Programmer tying the REx they
know and love to the multi-dimnensional meta-data that surrounds it?

Perl is really designed more for the guys that will hack Perl at least
20 minutes a day for the rest of their career.  TCL/Python is more a
"20 minutes a week", and VB is probably in that "20 minutes a month"
group. :) -- Randal Schwartz
