But just for curiosity's sake, what do you use it for?
To add the ability to send non-ASCII characters through an unfrozen
caveman chat protocol that strips the high bits off of everything.
Messages are also limited to 255 bytes, so a low-expansion encoding
is called-for. QP- or Base64-encoded UTF-8 or SCSU is too bulky.
An upgrade to the protocol which allows 8-bit characters is in the
works, but who knows how long that will take. :)
