[Q] ... service unavailable, smrsh and procmail !

1996-03-07 03:18:14
Dear Collegues,
I am trying to setup procmail in my site and therefore I read the faq and
installed the procmail program.
If I just run it from the command line as procmail -h it works allright
and there were no compilation errors.
The next step was therefore to perform the tests described in 2.1.2 of the faq.
Unfortunately I am getting always the error "Service unavailable" regardless of
what I put in the .forward for what concerns procmail. An example follows.

   ----- Transcript of session follows -----
sh: cannot use & in command
554 "|IFS=' ' && exec /home/toldo/procmail -f- || exit 75  #toldo"...
Service unavailable
MAILER-DAEMON... expanded to multiple addresses
postmaster... expanded to multiple addresses

I have then checked our /etc/sendmail.cf and found that our mailer definitions
are:

##################################################
### Local and Program Mailer specification ###
##################################################

#####  @(#)local.m4     8.20 (Berkeley) 8/13/95  #####

Mlocal, P=/bin/mail, F=lsDFMAw5:/|@Ehm, S=10/30, R=20/40,
        C=iso-8859-1, T=DNS/RFC822/X-Unix,
        A=mail -s -d $u
Mprog,  P=/usr/etc/smrsh, F=lsDFMoeu, S=10/30, R=20/40, D=$z:/,
        T=X-Unix, A=sh -c $u

Therefore according to the session 2.2.2 Alternate .forward files
I have performed the indications for the smrsh world but still I
get the error.

sh: procmail not available for sendmail program
554 "|/home/toldo/procmail  #toldo"
Service unavailable

I read the best_of_procmail but seems that the problem I am having had
not been addressed before ...

I would appreciate any help !
regards
