Perl and FROM_DAEMON

Greetings all,
        I have sort of non-procmail question.  Has anyone ever converted the
FROM_DAEMON extended regular expression to one that will work in a perl
script?  If so, could someone clue me in?  I've been playing with it but I
keep coming up short.
