Hi...
I've had Procmail as the system MDA here for the past couple years, and
it's been working like a champ. Now we're changing our mailreading
scheme from a local MUA to a POP3 setup. I've just installed Cucipop,
written by our favorite programmer :-) , and it seems to work so far,
although i find that i'd like to modify the way it calculates UIDLs for
messages.
Specifically, i'm considering trying to use procmail to add something
like an X-UIDL: header to each incoming message at delivery time, and
then having Cucipop simply report the contents of that header to the
mailreader client. Does that seem reasonable to the mail gurus out
there? Has anyone done something like this successfully and feel like
sharing their experiences or advice? Sample procmail recipes and
cucipop source hacks are welcome, although i'm going to try forging
ahead in the meantime...
Thanks,
Matt
PS- the reason for this modification is so that, in case users happen
to use our old MUA (which adds a Status: header to each message in the
mail box) occasionally, the UIDLs for all the messages will still
remain the same.
