Why didn't my attempt work? I really like to keep these things as simple
as possible.

I have not studied the procmail regexp engine, BUT I do recall something
about it finding the shortest match possible. So that RE will grab
"Subject:" followed by some spaces, followed by *zero* "Re: "s followed
by the rest of the line. (Assuming I understand the shortest matching
correctly.)
