The -d option is specifically designed for bursting digests.  If you want
to split a mailbox that contains digests (and also perhaps contains items
that are not digests) *without* further bursting the digests into their
component articles, use formail -s without -d.

This illustrates yet another peril of sending back "I'll kill you, you damn
spammer" to everyone who writes but isn't named on one's list of special
friends.  Not only might the sender be someone who isn't a spammer; the
sender might be someone who never wrote to you at all.
