NFS

I will soon consider making a recommendation to our Network Admins
about changing our mail system.

The way it works currently is that we have many SMTP servers (physical
boxes) and each one is configured identically, using mailertable
and procmail to deliver messages into files.

The new recommendation will have us running a few (four of five)
SMTP servers who will use mailertable (the same configuration)
to run procmail, to deliver the messages into the same files
which will be NFS mounted; a Network Appliance toaster, to
be exact.

Will there be a problem using procmail to deliver to files that
are mounted via NFS, and with the possibilty that multiple instances
of sendmail will be calling multiple instances of procmail to deliver
to the same file which is exported to the several SMTP servers?

All I get from the manpage is
" Procmail is NFS-resistant and eight-bit clean."
which makes me frown... That could be taken to mean,
I can expect no problems at all using procmail over NFS...
Or it could mean,
"Procmail resists being used across NFS, avoid it at all costs :-)"

Which?
