Is there anyway that procmail can alert me when new mail arrives ... for
example : is there anyway that I can open another screen using xdialog
with a message "New Mail" whenever I get any new mail. At the moment, I
am using pine and pine display the words "New Mail" whenever I get new
mail. This is very handy indeed, but procmail bypasses pine. However, I
cannot find anyway of doing something like this for procmail. The README
file of procmail suggests that something like this is possible. The
README file, amongst other things, states :

Can be used to create mail-servers, mailing lists, sort your incoming mail
into separate folders/files (real convenient when subscribing to one or
more mailing lists or for prioritising your mail), preprocess your mail,
start any programs upon mail arrival (e.g. to generate different chimes on
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
your workstation for different types of mail) or selectively forward
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
certain incoming mail automatically to someone.
