Most sample .forward lines appear to use bourne shell syntax.

The parsing of your .forward is initiated by Sendmail, which doesn't
care what your login shell is. (There are some intriguing examples of
how to +make+ it use Csh e.g. because you want ~ to expand to your
home directory, but that's not for the weak of stomach. [Anyhow, you'd
use ksh or bash for that rather than csh if you have the choice.])

(And as a friendly hint, are you a masochist or is your local admin a
sadist? Or are you simply unaware of the problems with Csh?)
